Heinrich Heine on God’s Shortcoming
on Monday, May 5, 2014Heinrich Heine Money Quotation saying that God was fallible in his planning for sufficient funds for everyone. Heinrich Heine said:
“The fundamental evil of the world arose from the fact that the good Lord has not created money enough” — Heinrich Heine
This quote from Heinrich Heine suggests that one of the root causes of evil and problems in the world stems from there not being enough money created or available. The best interpretation is that in Heine’s view, lack of sufficient financial resources is what drives much immoral, illegal or harmful behavior as people resort to desperate means to obtain money and basic needs.
If more money existed and was accessible to all, there would presumably be less temptation to steal, cheat, oppress or exploit others for personal gain. According to Heine, generating additional money through economic and social systems could help address fundamental evil by reducing monetary scarcity and the incentives it creates for people to act without ethics or compassion.
The implication seems to be that a more abundant supply of money distributed fairly could help curb evil that arises from poverty, inequality and the lack of alternatives it produces.
