Men Afraid Of Moneyed Women?
Although it's a frequent topic on screen, is it all that often that men without substantial money marry a woman who is well off? Limited social circles aside, I'd never met a rich single woman (or don't remember it if I did) before I married my wonderful wife. Perhaps men simply don't use wealth as a criteria for dating choices.
Huffington suggests:
As women continue to make gains in the workplace, wouldn't it be easier if men just learned not to be threatened by women with money in the first place--and redefined the "trophy" part of trophy wife? Isn't that a better learning curve than just learning how to extricate themselves from their successive trophy wives? No, my dear Arianna, men with money are not interested in women with money more likely. So those you are looking at longingly as potential marriage material who have more money than you are probably not interested. I'd be willing to bet that if you looked among men without money that you would find just as many suitors as do the rich men you'd prefer to capture.
Broaden your horizons to look below your own income level and I guarantee you'd find penniless 56 year old men who would be more than happy to marry a rich woman. If you want a tropy husband, you could easily come up with a beefcake construction worker (or even look among blue collar types or even the unemployed) who'd quickly become a house husband and happily meet your needs.
No Arianna, I don't think all men are threatened by women with money, only those that you are limiting yourself to looking at.
