Seneca: Weak Are Unable to Bear Wealth
on Tuesday, July 7, 2015Seneca Money Quotation saying those aspiring to wealth are often worried (weakness) they couldn’t handle having riches. Seneca said:
“It is the sign of a weak mind to be unable to bear wealth” — Seneca
In this quote, Seneca is saying that being unable to handle wealth in a balanced way indicates a weakness of character or mindset. True strength, in Seneca’s view, would be having wealth or resources but not letting them control you or change your priorities and values in life.
Instead of enhancing one’s life, wealth that is not borne well could distract from more important things or corrupt one’s principles. So Seneca suggests that the ability to possess wealth without being possessed by it reflects inner strength and wisdom.
