This passage from Psalm 49 cautions against coveting or envying the wealth of others during their lifetime. It notes that for all their riches and luxurious homes, worldly possessions cannot be taken by anyone upon death.

The verse is a reminder that material wealth has no lasting value in the afterlife or eternity. It encourages focusing less on accumulating earthly treasures which will not endure, and more on spiritual riches like righteousness, wisdom and faith that have true significance even after death.

The overall message seems to be not to admire wealth above all else, as all will lose it upon dying while one’s spiritual condition is what really matters in the end.
