This Bible verse from Proverbs 10:15-16 offers a comparison between the circumstances of the rich and poor, as well as the righteous and wicked. For the rich, their great wealth acts as a kind of protective fortress or stronghold.

However, it suggests poverty leaves the poor vulnerable to ruin or downfall. The verse also implies that the righteous who earn wages through honest means find that work sustains their lives, while the income of wicked or unethical people results in punishment for them instead of security.

Overall, the passage appears to be conveying that righteousness, integrity and justice lead to prosperity and safety, whereas harming others through wickedness brings negative consequences even if wealth is gained through such actions according to its perspective.
