The word “cashectomy” was coined in a Monty Python sketch to satirize how some institutions treat wealthy individuals. In the sketch, a doctor describes performing a “total cashectomy,” which is humorously defined as “total removal of all monies from the patient.”
By inventing this absurd medical-sounding term, Monty Python lampooned the idea that some view rich people merely as a source of funds to be extracted by any means necessary.
