But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you
the ability to produce wealth - Deuteronomy 8:18

had great possessions."

Luke 6:34-36: "And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive,
what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive
as much again. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend,
hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and
ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto
the unthankful and to the evil."

Luke 12:19-21: "And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast
much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink,
and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy
soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things
be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure
for himself, and is not rich toward God."
------
Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that
shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments
are motheaten. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust
of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh
as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last
days" James 5:1-3

A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children

A feast is made for laughter, and wine makes life merry, but
money is the answer for everything. Ecclesiastes 10:19

Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what
does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Isaiah 55:2

No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one
and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise
the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. Matthew 6:24

Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying
and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers
and the benches of those selling doves. Matthew 21:12
------
A man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted
his property to them. To one he gave five talents [more than
$1000] of money, to another two talents, and to another one
talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.
The man who had received the five talents went at once and
put his money to work and gained five more. So also, the one
with the two talents gained two more. But the man who had received
the one talent went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his
master's money.
After a long time the master of those servants returned and
settled accounts with them. The man who had received the five
talents brought the other five. `Master,' he said, `you entrusted
me with five talents. See, I have gained five more.' "His master
replied, `Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been
faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many
things. Come and share your master's happiness!'
"The man with the two talents also came. `Master,' he said,
`you entrusted me with two talents; see, I have gained two more.'
"His master replied, `Well done, good and faithful servant!
You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in
charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'
"Then the man who had received the one talent came. `Master,'
he said, `I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you
have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed.
So I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground.
See, here is what belongs to you.'
"His master replied, `You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew
that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have
not scattered seed? Well then, you should have put my money
on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would
have received it back with interest. "Take the talent from him
and give it to the one who has the ten talents.
For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have
an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be
taken from him. And throw that worthless servant outside, into
the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 25:14-30
------
When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned,
he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty silver coins
to the chief priests and the elders. "I have sinned," he said,
"for I have betrayed innocent blood." "What is that to us?"
they replied. "That's your responsibility."
So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he
went away and hanged himself. The chief priests picked up the
coins and said, "It is against the law to put this into the
treasury, since it is blood money." So they decided to use the
money to buy the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners.
That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day.
Matthew 27:3-8
------
"Two men owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him
five hundred denarii, [4] and the other fifty. Neither of them
had the money to pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both.
Now which of them will love him more?" Simon replied, "I suppose
the one who had the bigger debt canceled." "You have judged
correctly," Jesus said.
Luke 7:41-43
------
When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on
of the apostles' hands, he offered them money and said, "Give
me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands
may receive the Holy Spirit." Peter answered: "May your money
perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift
of God with money!
Acts 8:18-20
------
On the first day of every week, each one of you should set
aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up,
so that when I come no collections will have to be made. 1 Corinthians
16:2
------
LOVE OF Money is the Root of all Evil
He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and
strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil
surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and
destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from
such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great
gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain
we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us
be therewith content.
But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare,
and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in
destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root
of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred
from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after
righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
1 Timothy 6:4-11
------
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content
with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave
you; never will I forsake you." Hebrews 13:5
------
Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to
this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and
make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow.
What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little
while and then vanishes.
------
Hear this, all you peoples; listen, all who live in this world,
both low and high, rich and poor alike: My mouth will speak
words of wisdom; the utterance from my heart will give understanding.
I will turn my ear to a proverb; with the harp I will expound
my riddle:
Why should I fear when evil days come, when wicked deceivers
surround me-- those who trust in their wealth and boast of their
great riches?
No man can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom
for him--the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever
enough-- that he should live on forever and not see decay. For
all can see that wise men die; the foolish and the senseless
alike perish and leave their wealth to others. Their tombs will
remain their houses forever, their dwellings for endless generations,
though they had named lands after themselves.
But man, despite his riches, does not endure; he is like the
beasts that perish. This is the fate of those who trust in themselves,
and of their followers, who approve their sayings. Like sheep
they are destined for the grave, and death will feed on them.
The upright will rule over them in the morning; their forms
will decay in the grave, far from their princely mansions.
But God will redeem my life from the grave; he will surely
take me to himself. Do not be overawed when a man grows rich,
when the splendor of his house increases; for he will take nothing
with him when he dies, his splendor will not descend with him.
Though while he lived he counted himself blessed-- and men praise
you when you prosper-- he will join the generation of his fathers,
who will never see the light [of life].
A man who has riches without understanding is like the beasts
that perish.
Psalms 49:1-20
-----
With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.
My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice
silver. I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths
of justice, bestowing wealth on those who love me and making
their treasuries full.
Proverbs 8:18-21
------
Ill-gotten treasures are of no value, but righteousness delivers
from death. The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry but
he thwarts the craving of the wicked. Lazy hands make a man
poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.
Proverbs 10:2-4
------
The wealth of the rich is their fortified city, but poverty
is the ruin of the poor. The wages of the righteous bring them
life, but the income of the wicked brings them punishment.
Proverbs 10:15-16
------
The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, and he adds no trouble
to it. Proverbs 10:22
------
One man pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends
to be poor, yet has great wealth. A man's riches may ransom
his life, but a poor man hears no threat. Proverbs13:7-8
------
Better a little with the fear of the LORD than great wealth
with turmoil. Proverbs 15:16
------
He who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth and he who
gives gifts to the rich--both come to poverty. Proverbs 22:16
------
He who increases his wealth by exorbitant interest amasses
it for another, who will be kind to the poor. Proverbs 28:8
------
To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and
happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering
and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases
God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. Ecclesiastes
2:26
------
There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother.
There was no end to his toil, yet his eyes were not content
with his wealth. "For whom am I toiling," he asked, "and why
am I depriving myself of enjoyment?" This too is meaningless--
a miserable business! Ecclesiastes 4:8
------
If you see the poor oppressed in a district, and justice and
rights denied, do not be surprised at such things; for one official
is eyed by a higher one, and over them both are others higher
still. The increase from the land is taken by all; the king
himself profits from the fields. Whoever loves money never has
money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his
income. This too is meaningless.
As goods increase, so do those who consume them. And what
benefit are they to the owner except to feast his eyes on them?
The sleep of a laborer is sweet, whether he eats little or much,
but the abundance of a rich man permits him no sleep. I have
seen a grievous evil under the sun: wealth hoarded to the harm
of its owner, or wealth lost through some misfortune, so that
when he has a son there is nothing left for him.
Naked a man comes from his mother's womb, and as he comes,
so he departs. He takes nothing from his labor that he can carry
in his hand. This too is a grievous evil: As a man comes, so
he departs, and what does he gain, since he toils for the wind?
All his days he eats in darkness, with great frustration, affliction
and anger.
Then I realized that it is good and proper for a man to eat
and drink, and to find satisfaction in his toilsome labor under
the sun during the few days of life God has given him--for this
is his lot. Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions,
and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy
in his work--this is a gift of God.
He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God keeps
him occupied with gladness of heart.
Ecclesiastes 5:8-20
------
God gives a man wealth, possessions and honor, so that he
lacks nothing his heart desires, but God does not enable him
to enjoy them, and a stranger enjoys them instead. This is meaningless,
a grievous evil. Ecclesiastes 6:2
